A Builder's Reflections on the Culture of Taibo

A recent visit to the Taibo Museum in Wuxi felt like embarking on a cultural dialogue spanning millennia. Taibo, the eldest son of King Tai of Zhou, selflessly relinquished his claim to the throne to fulfill his father's wish to pass the succession to Ji Li (father of King Wen of Zhou), resolutely leading his younger brother Zhongyong south to Mei. He not only brought advanced culture and agricultural techniques from the Central Plains, but also established the Kingdom of Gouwu in the Jiangnan region, becoming the ancestor of Wu culture. His spirit of "three times yielding the throne" and his pioneering spirit deeply moved me and continues to provide profound insights.

The virtue of yielding to others achieves great things. Taibo's voluntary relinquishment of the throne demonstrates a vision and responsibility that transcends personal gain and loss. This resonates with enterprise management, particularly in large-scale engineering projects, where conflicts often arise regarding resources and processes. Only by adhering to the principle of "project overall priority," supporting each other, making mutual concessions, and rationally allocating resources, can we ensure high-quality project delivery. This "sacrificing the small self for the greater good" is the cornerstone of team cohesion and efficient collaboration.

The courage to pioneer and innovate. In an unfamiliar land, Taibo fearlessly undertook the task of developing irrigation and agriculture, ultimately leading to the prosperity of Gouwu. The growth of QIAN from a local enterprise into a construction group with national and even international influence is driven by this spirit of pioneering and innovation. Faced with the ever-changing challenges of technology, processes, and standards in the construction field, we must, like Taibo developing Wu, actively explore new technologies and models, bravely undertake high-difficulty projects, and continuously expand the depth and breadth of our business to add impetus to the company's progress through difficulties.

The way of harmony, co-existence and co-prosperity. The museum's depiction of Taibo's harmonious coexistence and common development with the local people reminds us of the importance of handling multifaceted relationships. Taibo respected local customs, integrated with the people, and won their hearts. Jiangsu QIAN, undertaking projects nationwide and overseas, must also focus on establishing good relationships with local communities, governments, and partners, while respecting cultural customs, addressing residents' concerns, and participating in public welfare undertakings, so as to take root locally, win support, and create a favorable environment for the successful completion of projects.

Taibo's spirit of yielding, pioneering, and harmony is timeless management wisdom. As a member of QIAN, I am inspired by this to contribute to the resilient development of the group with a broader vision, innovative thinking, and pragmatic actions. I believe that all QIAN people, inheriting and carrying forward this spirit, will surely continue to push the company forward, creating even more brilliant chapters. (Huang Xintong)
