Father and Son Chasing the Light Under the Scorching Sun
The July sun, like molten gold leaf, poured down on the earth, with the ground temperature reaching nearly 40 degrees. At the 36MW fishery-photovoltaic complementary photovoltaic installation project site in Fengli Town, Rudong County, a father and son were stepping on the scorching steel frame, precisely piecing together piece after piece of azure photovoltaic panels into an "energy array"...
The Fengli project is in the crucial stage of component installation. To avoid exposure to the scorching sun while ensuring the progress of the project, the project department adjusted the working hours accordingly. At 4:30 am, the father and son from Shandong, surnamed Xiao Wang, had already put on their labor protective equipment and were preparing for work at the assembly point. At this time, Xiao Wang looked a little sleepy, which made me worry about his work status. But not long after, during the project department's routine morning meeting, Xiao Wang's loud "Here!" seemed to signal the start of his work, and he joked, "Farewell to fatigue, restart with full energy! "
Around 8 o'clock, the outdoor temperature had reached nearly 35 degrees. In the fish pond installation area of plot A, I met the Xiao Wang father and son again. Because the installation surface of the photovoltaic components is relatively wide, Xiao Wang needed to transport the components to the installation point 60 meters away, and his father was already waiting on the operating platform. I saw them standing on both sides of the component. Xiao Wang supported the bottom edge of the frame with his palm upward, his knuckles hooked into the aluminum alloy groove, his arms stretched straight to leverage his legs and waist, tilting the glass surface 15° close to his chest, and he and his father moved in sync, with a left-front and right-rear diagonal stance. When they reached the bracket, they both squatted down to unload the weight, allowing the bottom edge of the frame to gently touch the guide rail. After the weight of the component was transferred steadily, they both withdrew their hands at the same time, completing the process in one go. After several trips, Xiao Wang's clothes were soaked, and under the scorching sun, his skin had become bronze-colored.
During a break, I asked Xiao Wang why he always pre-tightened the bolts three turns before final tightening when installing the component pressure blocks, instead of final tightening them all at once, which would save time. Xiao Wang took off his sweat-soaked gloves and said seriously, "Not pre-tightening and directly final tightening can indeed speed up the process and allow us to earn more. But this violent construction method can cause the components to vibrate, causing slippage or stress concentration, leading to deformation of the frame. That would be against my conscience!" Xiao Wang's simple words surprised me. He used his own actions to respect the regulations, interpreting a pragmatic and realistic work attitude, which is also a microcosm of thousands of Jiangsu Qi'an photovoltaic installers. The high temperature did not soften their will, but instead forged a more tenacious focus and responsibility.
As the setting sun cast long shadows, the figures of Xiao Wang and his father were elongated, their faces showing fatigue but with a hint of satisfaction. On their dark arms, the marks kissed by the sun are the medals awarded to this father and son by the earth. Xiao Wang, his father, and thousands of Qi'an colleagues, using their flesh and blood as pens, wrote the legendary pursuit of light of Jiangsu Qi'an stroke by stroke on the earth under the scorching sun.
In this late summer, the sweat of Qi'an people merges with the earth, transforming into the electric current that illuminates the future; the backbone of Qi'an people carries the strongest and cleanest dawn of this era! (Qin Bingyan)
