"Three Keys" for Safety Management of Tower Crane

"Three Keys" for Safety Management of Tower Crane

As one of the most popular and indispensable lifting equipment on the construction site, tower crane can lift steel bars, steel pipes, fabricated floor slabs, small equipment, various components, etc. However, due to the complex working environment of tower crane equipment, insufficient intelligent monitoring means, uneven quality of tower cranes, lack of strength of the leasing company's maintenance team and a series of problems, there are major potential safety hazards, causing the tower crane to overturn in recent years High falling and other safety accidents occur frequently.

The Security Department of the Group found some similar potential safety hazards in our project through major inspection, flight inspection and some regional safety inspections. Therefore, share some "tips" from excellent project departments and peers, and pay attention to strengthening safety measures and reference of safety protection devices in the future use of tower crane leasing.

First, strengthen the installation of tower crane fall arresters. The hot weather in summer is easy to cause heatstroke, and the operators may fall down when climbing. The Group has always required that the direct climbing tower cranes of the branches must be equipped with fall arresters, and double fall arresters can be provided if possible for the use of tower crane drivers, inspectors, and maintenance personnel, or directly use the Teng'an Leasing Company recommended by the Group. The tower cranes they purchase are all new models of Zoomlion to achieve intrinsic safety. The built-in rotary climbing and descending stairs do not pose a risk of falling from height, and fall arresters are not required. In Qidong Experimental Primary School, Ziwei Village 3 and Hongshi Project, Teng'an Tower Crane has been used and achieved good results.

Secondly, pay attention to the daily safety inspection of the standard section bolts of the tower crane. The tower crane has been used in the open air for a long time, and the working state of slewing, hoisting and unloading of the tower crane. The high-strength bolts are inevitably loose and fall off because they are subject to irregular shear stress, normal stress and wind load for a long time. If they are not found in time, the accidents will be unimaginable.

The commonly used inspection method is manual visual inspection, which is time-consuming and laborious, and there is a risk of falling when climbing up and down, and there may be omissions in the inspection process, which cannot be comprehensive.

The tower cranes of the project of Jingang Branch are all equipped with warning nuts. Once the high-strength nuts are loosened, the pressure sensor of the warning nuts will be triggered and an alarm light will be sent out. When tower crane drivers go to and from work and management personnel are patrolling, they can directly determine whether the nuts are loose, which can directly eliminate potential safety hazards. It greatly reduces the time and frequency of equipment inspection and maintenance personnel working at heights, and further guarantees the personal safety of operators.

Finally, the tower crane hook visualization system can be configured. This can solve the problems of super high lifting distance and blind area of tower crane. The driver can clearly see the real-time status of the hook, whether the materials are fastened and the surrounding area through the display screen in the cab tens of meters high. Whether there are people and obstacles during hoisting, and then hoist again to effectively ensure the safety of tower crane operation.

The purchase cost of fall arresters and warning nuts is not high, and the hook visualization device can also be purchased if conditions permit. As long as we are good at grasping the "three keys" of tower crane safety management, through the use of these safety protection measures and safety protection devices, we may greatly reduce major potential safety hazards and improve the economic benefits of the enterprise.
