Information

August 15 of the lunar calendar is China's traditional Mid Autumn Festival. Because it is the mid autumn of a year, it is called the Mid Autumn Festival. Because each season is divided into three stages: Meng, Zhong and Ji, it is also called the Mid Autumn Festival. On the night of August 15, the bright moon, like a jade plate, can easily arouse people's yearning for their hometown, relatives and friends, so it is also called "reunion day".

There are many legends about the Mid Autumn Festival. Here are six:

1、 Autumn evening and evening moon

The evening moon is to worship the moon god. It is said that in the Warring States period, there was an ugly woman named Wuyan in the state of Qi. She worshipped the moon devoutly when she was young, and later entered the palace with extraordinary morality. On August 15 of one year, when he was enjoying the moon in the palace, it happened that King Xuan of Qi was also wandering in the palace. Seeing the salt free in the moonlight, he thought she was beautiful and moving, so he canonized her as the queen. The custom of worshipping the moon on the Mid Autumn Festival has been handed down since then.

2、 Chang'e rushes to the moon

Hou Yi was deeply respected and loved by the people all over the world because he shot down the nine suns in the sky and eliminated harm for the people. Then he married the beautiful and kind Chang'e as his wife. One day, Hou Yi went to Kunlun mountain to visit friends and ask for a way. He happened to meet the queen mother from then on. So he asked the queen mother for two immortality pills. If he took one pill, he could live forever and if he took two pills, he could ascend to heaven. Hou Yi couldn't bear to leave his wife to ascend to heaven, so he gave the two pills to Chang'e to treasure.

Hou Yi had an apprentice named Feng Meng. He was a villain. When chang e hid the elixir in the treasure box, he peeped into it and began to think of the elixir. Three days later, Hou Yi led his disciples to hunt. Every time Meng said he was ill, he didn't go. After Hou Yi left, he threatened Chang'e with a sword to hand over the elixir. Chang'e knew that she was not the opponent of Fengmeng, so she quickly opened the treasure box and swallowed the two elixirs in one breath. After swallowing the elixir, Chang'e immediately felt that she was light and could fly, so she flew out of the window and into the sky. Because she was concerned about her husband Hou Yi, Chang'e landed on the moon nearest to others.

After Hou Yi came home, the maids told him what happened during the day. Hou Yi was shocked and angry. The villain Fengmeng had fled. He was devastated, beat his chest, looked up at the sky and shouted his wife's name. It was found that the moon was particularly bright that night. It happened to be August 15, and there was a shaking figure in the moon, just like Chang'e.

So Hou Yi sent people to Chang'e's favorite back garden, put incense tables and offer sacrifices to Chang'e in the Moon Palace. Since then, on August 15, people have also set up incense tables under the moon to worship Chang'e and pray for good luck and peace for the beautiful and kind Chang'e.

At the end of the Yuan Dynasty, Zhu Yuanzhang United local resistance forces to prepare for an uprising. Military Master Liu Bowen came up with a clever plan. Taking advantage of the opportunity of giving wheat cakes to each other on the Mid Autumn Festival, he carried a note in the wheat cakes to convey the information of the uprising, and agreed to hold the uprising at the same time on the evening of August 15. Later, when the uprising was successful, Zhu Yuanzhang handed down an oral order. Every year at the Mid Autumn Festival, he rewarded the officials with the "moon cakes" that delivered the information that year as festival cakes. In order to keep pace with the insurgents in the surrounding areas, the Chaoshan people, according to a secret agreement in advance, built a tower with tiles and burned a fire in an open place on August 15 as an action signal of the uprising. Later, burning pagodas became a custom of the Mid Autumn Festival, which was handed down from generation to generation.

Everyone worked together and finally subdued the python. But the next day, the python was found missing. A few days later, the plague broke out in the big pit area. At this time, the elders in the village were suddenly told by the Bodhisattva in a dream that as long as the fire dragon is danced on the Mid Autumn Festival, the plague can be eliminated. Since then, the custom of dancing fire dragon has been handed down every Mid Autumn Festival.
